Empower Personal Cash closure requests are processed manually by UMB (our partner Bank).
Important: Before your Empower Personal Cash account can be closed, you will need to withdraw the full balance in the account. Once your Empower Personal Cash account is at a zero dollar balance, contact us with the following information:
1. Your closure request
2. The last four digits of the Empower Personal Cash account(s) to be closed
3. The email address associated with your Dashboard
Note: If the balance in your Empower Personal Cash account is under $1.00, you may still contact us with your closure request. Once your Empower Personal Cash account is closed, UMB will process your closing balance back to your original funding account.
Be sure to download any account statements that you wish to keep prior to the account's closing, as they are deleted once the account is closed.
Most Empower Personal Cash accounts are closed within 7-10 business days from the date the closure is requested. Once your account is closed, it cannot be re-opened. However, you may re-apply for a new account on your Dashboard at any time.
