In December of 2022, Union Bank was acquired by U.S. Bank. As part of this acquisition, existing Union Bank accounts will be migrated to U.S. Bank over the coming months, beginning on May 1st. Once your account is migrated from Union Bank to U.S. Bank, you will need to link your new U.S. Bank account to your Empower Personal Dashboard.
The transition is happening in stages based on the type of account. This means that if you have more than one type of account (mortgage, credit card, banking, or investments), there will be a period of time where you will have both Union Bank and U.S. Bank accounts linked to your dashboard. In order to avoid duplication, we recommend marking the Union Bank accounts as closed after the corresponding U.S. Bank account is linked to your dashboard. For example, if you have a Mortgage and a Checking account at Union Bank, wait until your mortgage account is set up at U.S. Bank, link it to your dashboard, then mark just the Union Bank Mortgage account as closed- leave the other accounts open until the U.S. Bank accounts have been created and linked. For guidance on marking an account as closed, follow the steps outlined here: How to Mark an Account as Closed in Empower Personal Dashboard
